Disability Accommodations: The Georgia State University Process The Georgia State University process for employees to self-disclose their disability will be reviewed. Reasonable accommodations for the university setting and appropriate action for managers will be identified. Guest Presenters: Shelley Kaplan is the Director of the DBTAC: Southeast ADA Center (Southeast DBTAC), a project of the Burton Blatt Institute of Syracuse University. She is responsible for establishing effective ADA networks across the eight southeastern states served by the project to ensure the availability of accurate ADA information and technical assistance to facilitate voluntary and effective ADA compliance efforts. Ms. Kaplan has authored three fully accessible web-based tutorials entitled, “Welcoming Customers with Disabilities to the One Stop Center”, “ADA Basics” and “Title II for ADA Coordinators.” Pamela Williamson is the Director of Training and Technical Assistance at the Southeast ADA Center (Southeast DBTAC), a project of the Burton Blatt Institute of Syracuse University. She coordinates the project’s core services of training and technical assistance for an eight-state region. Ms. Williamson has also been instrumental in developing and implementing four online courses: ADA Basic Building Blocks (public version), Basic ADA Building Blocks (moderated version), At Your Service: Welcoming Customers with Disabilities, and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act. In addition, she assisted in the development of the curriculum "Serving Customers with Disabilities in Air Travel." Day Two November 28, 2007 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 .m. Biased Incident Protocol: The Georgia State University Process The Bias Incidence Response Protocol was developed for victims of bias-related crimes and for those individuals at Georgia State who might be called upon to support and advise them. This workshop will cover how to report, document, investigate, and appropriately respond to bias incidents on campus. Guest Presenters: Holli Levinson is the Education Project Director for the Southeast Region. She brings to the Anti-Defamation League 10 years of experience working in community organizing and community service organizations in Atlanta. After graduating from Emory University, she founded and directed an organization to involve college students and young people in community service to address issues of poverty in Atlanta and founded an association to improve working conditions for day laborers.
